 History and Philosophy of Biology 2022 Meeting

Participation in the History and Philosophy 2022 Meeting with a work presentation

CRITERIA FOR THE PAPERS TO BE SUBMITTED

Only papers from original research that have not been presented at other conferences or published by the author(s) can be submitted at the History and Philosophy of Biology 2022. However, we consider papers that show the results of master’s dissertations or doctoral theses, as these are not publications, per se. In principle, the researcher should only submit a work that fits publication in a journal specialised in the history and philosophy of science for presentation at the Meeting.

Themes of history, philosophy of biology, and their epistemic interfaces such as Science education are within the scope of the Meeting. Still, works on teaching biology tout court or on the history of education will not be accepted. General papers on the history and philosophy of science that do not have biology as their central focus should not be accepted.

Each researcher may submit only one work as a single author or first author, although they may participate, as a co-author, in more than one work. However, the Organizing Committee of the Meeting assumes that the first author will participate in the event and present the work.

Two expert reviewers in the field will analyse each work.

HOW TO SUBMIT THE WORK?

Would you please send the abstract in word format to the e-mail ehfb2022@abfhib.org addressed to the event’s organising committee, specifying the form of presentation (oral or poster)

The abstract, containing 1,000 to 1,200 words, in addition to the bibliography used, must indicate the subject and the historical or philosophical issue and the historical or philosophical conclusion of the research.

The file sent with the abstract must include the full name of the author(s), the title of the work, institution(s) and e-mail address of the author(s). If you are a graduate student, please indicate this condition and inform your supervisor’s name and institution.

The file name must indicate the name(s) of the author(s), such as “jose-silva.docx” or “maria-tavares_lucio-silveira.docx”.

After receiving the e-mail with the acceptance of the work, the author must fill in the registration form and pay the registration fee.

DISCLOSURE OF ACCEPTED PAPERS

The acceptance of works for presentation will be available until April 15, 2022.

PUBLICATION

The Meeting will publish the accepted works in the Annals of the History and Philosophy of Biology 2022.

Participants may also submit the full version of their papers for publication in the journal Filosofia e História da Biologia (Philosophy and History of Biology).  You can find more information about the journal at this link.

People interested in participating in the History and Philosophy of Biology 2022 Meeting as listeners will be able to fill in the registration form and pay as of April 15.
